Jose Juan Colón-Lauer — known as JJ — is a FINRA-registered principal with more than 20 years of executive leadership across broker-dealers, RIAs, offshore advisory channels, and cross-border private banking platforms.

JJ founded JJCL Compliance Oversight to give financial firms access to the kind of CCO-level judgment that has historically been available only to large institutions. His work spans the full compliance lifecycle: building supervisory frameworks from the ground up, guiding firms through SEC and FINRA examinations, leading remediation efforts, and implementing scalable surveillance and monitoring programs.

Prior to founding JJCL, JJ held senior leadership roles at respected financial institutions, where he aligned enterprise compliance programs with SEC, FINRA, MSRB, and international regulatory standards — always with a focus on practical execution and audit-ready outcomes.

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and Finance from Kennesaw State University and maintains multiple FINRA principal and representative registrations. JJ delivers all services in both English and Spanish, with particular expertise serving firms with offshore and cross-border operations.

 

Beyond the Work:

Outside of compliance, JJ is a race car pilot with a passion for precision — a quality he also brings to restoring classic German sports cars. He is based across Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and San Juan, Puerto Rico, and is deeply committed to the communities and markets he serves.
